We love a big, festive wedding, but we understand that it’s not for everyone. The average wedding costs between twenty to thirty thousand dollars and some people would rather spend that money on a down payment for a house or paying off student loans. If you fall into that category, we’ve got just the thing for you!
Taco Bar Catering is a family-owned small business that supports love in all shapes and forms. We love having extravagant fiestas with all our extended family and friends, but we can also appreciate a smaller, intimate gathering as well.
Our Bride’s Guide to Small Weddings is for anyone who wants to plan an amazing, unforgettable time without burning a hole in their wallet! Check it out below:
1. Skip the frills.
Some people might say it’s all about the details. When it comes to weddings, this is extremely untrue! What really matters is that you are creating a bond with someone whom you love and care about. Nobody is going to care what kind of charger plates you use or what stationery invitations are written on. They’re going to remember your beaming face when you’re with your significant other!
You can easily make your wedding day special with affordable but unique touches. In the past, we’ve seen couples bring board games, sparklers, and giant beach balls to their receptions. Guests will have a lot more fun with these activities than they will with a diamond chandelier.
2. Excuse the extravagant venues.
Rather than booking your event at a luxury beachside hotel or a castle overlooking the city, choose somewhere that is meaningful to you and your significant other. For example, choose a city where you first met or a garden if you both love nature. Some of the most best weddings we’ve attended in Irvine have been in quirky places like Eureka Building, a coworking space, and The Wine Artist, a wine bar!
You can still get those gorgeous photos on the mountain or beach at a separate photoshoot! Besides, do you want your guests looking out at the view or paying attention to you on your special day?
3. Cut down on catering.
Instead of paying for a whole waitstaff to bring out food to your guests, get a taco bar! Instead of impatiently waiting for the next course all night, your guests can fill their plates to their heart’s content whenever the want.
Taco Bar Catering in Orange County provides many types of taco catering for weddings. We can work with you to figure out the perfect plan for your perfect day. Our professional taco chefs will deliver freshly cooked foods, so everyone at your wedding can customize their own plates. It’s definitely a new approach that’s been a hit with all our younger clients!
4. Pass on printed programs, menus, personal escort cards, etc.
Not only do you save when you pass on printed programs, menus, etc, you also reduce waste. Most likely, nobody is going to keep their programs and menus… we’re just being honest! Instead, get a nice board at Michael’s or Joann’s in Irvine and paint the itinerary and menu on there. Everyone can stop by to take a look, so they know where to go and what to do.
You can even skip on Save the Dates. Instead, send out an email with the anticipated date and only mail out invitations (make those on Canva) to those who RSVP. The people who really matter are the ones you tell in person anyway. Marry smart, not hard!
5. Go green
Yes, being environmentally friendly actually pays off. When you help Mother Earth, she helps you! When done correctly, using antique items from second hand businesses can give your wedding a gorgeous, vintage, mid-century modern look to your decor. For example, using old books and reused mason jars for centerpieces is super dreamy and cute. Some of our favorite Irvine shops include Deja New on McGaw Avenue and Mariner’s Thrift Store on Newport Drive.
When it comes to floral arrangements, you can literally go green by adding extra foliage to your arrangements. This makes things look fresh and bright without the actual cost of flowers. Plus, people with pollen allergies will definitely be thanking you!
We hope our guide was helpful! At the end of the day, nobody is going to judge you for how much or how little you spend on the big day. If you want to splurge, it’s definitely your choice and that needs to be respected. What’s important is that you have a fantastic time with those closest to you.
