The month of November is all about the Thanksgiving holiday and spending time with the ones we love and care for (including tacos, of course)! It is a great time for us to give thanks for what we have, as well as give our time to help others. Volunteering is a great opportunity to give back to your community, as well as  getting to meet new people! If you’re looking to lend a helping hand this fall, check out these awesome opportunities in Mission Viejo and throughout Orange County!

Mission Viejo Animal Services Center

For all the animal lovers out there, volunteering at an animal shelter is a great way to interact with tons of animals while also getting some exercise in! A few of the volunteer positions they offer are dog walkers, cat care assistants, and rabbit care assistants. Often times, walking dogs can help them become happier, more sociable, and more adoptable! If you are interested, stop by the Mission Viejo Animal Services center to fill out an application.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Every month, the Second Harvest Food Bank feeds over 250,000 people in Orange County. Volunteers are the biggest contributor to the food bank and assist with over 40% of the daily work! With various volunteer opportunities, you are sure to find something where your skills fit. Whether you help out in the food distribution center or the incredible edible garden, your help is always needed. Head over to www.feedoc.org to take a look at their current opportunities!

Laguna Canyon Foundation

Are you passionate about nature? The Laguna Canyon Foundation is the perfect place for you to volunteer, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the South Coast Wilderness. To name just a few of their volunteer functions, they need assistance with backcountry patrol, restoration and stewardship, Wilderness Access Volunteers, and more. There’s nothing better than getting out into nature and breathing that fresh air!  If volunteering in nature is something you’d be interested in, head to www.lagunacanyon.org and fill out their volunteer interest form to get more information.

Laura’s House

Laura’s House is currently the only state approved domestic violence agency in Orange County for men, women, and children. Every year, Laura’s House provides housing services, counseling, and legal services to victims of domestic abuse. If this is a cause that you are passionate about, Laura’s House is always looking for volunteers and currently has openings for Administrative Volunteers, Hotline Volunteers, Event Volunteers, and more. To learn more about how you can get involved with Laura’s House, visit www.laurashouse.org.

After giving back to the community, you’re sure to be famished from working hard. Call us and let us cater a delicious taco meal for you and your family, or come grab some tacos at Taqueros Mexican Food to satisfy that hunger!
